Vica Gábor

I am graduating from the MLitt Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) program in September 2024. My research during the master's program focused on the relationship between curation and contemporary jewellery. My interest, both as a practitioner jewellery designer and as a curator, is to explore the boundaries of the contemporary jewellery field and create experience-based exhibitions where the audience steps out from being passive viewers to active participants. I graduated as a silversmith and jewellery designer from the BA (Hons) program at The Glasgow School of Art in 2023.

Since 2022, I have been a founding member of Kontrapunk Collective, a group of international contemporary jewellery designers with whom I have been exhibiting in Budapest, Valencia, Amsterdam, and Munich. In 2025, we are going to exhibit in Tallinn. In this collaboration, we also share curatorial tasks. This year, we launched our first catalogue, where I created the visual content. In my curatorial practice, documenting the artistic process is a very important element, as is conducting interviews and dialogues between artists and curators. I have been working with Current Obsession magazine, where my tasks included researching artists and conducting interviews. During my master's program, I have been working at David Dale Gallery, where I assisted the gallery's curator and also interviewed the studio residents, alongside participating in exhibition installation. I am a person who works a lot in studios, but I also have an interest in research. Within my career, I am always trying to infuse my different passions and create something unique through them.
