Viktoria Johansson

I am Viktoria Johansson, a master's student pursuing a Diplomacy and International Security degree. Since my undergraduate, my interest has been centred around international relations and foreign activities. I find analysing countries' behaviour linked to socio-economic and political factors fascinating. My current dissertation topic on state compliance with the European Union intelligence law explores this fascination, where I compare and contrast countries' behaviour with EU requirements.  

I am eager to explore how organisations work alongside countries to develop diplomatic relations and establish networks. Throughout my studies, I have actively assumed positions in academic and non-academic groups, which has sharpened my collaboration abilities, mainly through my student internship with Scholars At Risk. My experiences have allowed me to develop a skill set for teamwork, especially in recognising and addressing a team's strengths and weaknesses to work together towards a shared goal. I am excited to develop such skills further in my current role as Tour Officer with the Diplomacy and Interational Security Society at the University of Strathclyde and my analytical skills as an Academic Note Taker for the company Theorise. 

I have a background in Politics and International Relations from the University of Dundee. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I participated in a university-led internship with the NGO Scholars At Risk, advocating for human rights in academia. 

Throughout my degrees, I have developed a deep fascination with studying interconnections between states and institutions. My current thesis explores this passion by examining state compliance with international regulations from a behavioural approach. 

Furthermore, I have worked in various sectors alongside my studies. For over two years, I worked in hospitality, where I sharpened my teamwork skillset and communication tools. I currently work with Theorise Ltd. as an Academic note-taker in social sciences. 

I am highly passionate about conducting further research exploring state behaviours and relations to provide analysis and advice. I aim to combine my communication and engagement skills with my passion for research and academia.
