Experience
’ve always enjoyed solving puzzles and tackling challenges, so I took on various roles to enhance my skills in research, data analysis, and problem-solving. My first volunteer project at an NGO allowed me to quickly rise through the ranks, running campaigns and building my credibility. During my undergraduate studies, I interned with a food and beverage startup, managing relationships with both B2B and B2C clients to ensure continued customer satisfaction. I also interned at the Mexican Embassy, where I researched and provided insights on economic and social collaboration opportunities between Mexico and India, directly supporting the ambassador.
These experiences have fueled my passion for trade and sales, reinforcing my desire to pursue a career in this field. My ability to gather crowds and captivate audiences was appreciated by my work peers and close ones. During my master's program, I had the opportunity to become a student ambassador for the University of Manchester for my department, achieving a 38% conversion rate in turning prospective students into full-time enrollees. I realized that a great salesperson is one who can negotiate effectively and create a comforting environment for clients. I further secured a contracted opportunity to handle B2B client relations for room allocations throughout the year with a hospitality company in India while also dealing with clients in the UK. I utilized tools like Salesforce to reach out to clients and offer them great discounted room allocations.
One of the most interesting opportunities I had was working as a front office assistant at Mercure Manchester Piccadilly. Being in the heart of the city center and dealing with thousands of customers over the past year provided me with a large sample size for understanding human behavior and solving problems. Simultaneously, I was able to generate sales for the company through upsells, loyalty-based sign-ups, and reviews, strengthening the company's marketing and sales position while refining my skill set.
Education
I began my journey as a communicator and national-level debater, honing my skills in connecting with people and negotiating mutually beneficial solutions. It was eye-opening to see how convincing and selling ideas can be both an art and a skill. My father suggested I read The Art of Negotiation, which played a significant role in my success in debate and Model United Nations.
Realizing my passion for major trade deals and negotiations, I pursued a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a master’s degree in International Development, with a focus on governance and policy. University was a highlight for me, providing the opportunity to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. I learned that effective negotiation is about understanding others' needs and asking the right questions—lessons reinforced by The Art of Negotiation.
