The Role


The purpose of this role is to support our students as they navigate our digital learning resources and our Learning Space at our Ealing Studios, London campus.

This position will signpost students to the appropriate areas for any other queries as well as aid with managing available resources.

Based at Ealing Studios you will support all campus locations to provide a professional, efficient, and effective customer focused learning resource.

Our aim is to improve accessibility of digital learning resources.

We want to ensure students at MetFilm School are supported to use a range of devices to access electronic resources, media and learning systems for research, learning and assessment.

We are looking for someone who is confident in the use of technology to help facilitate excellent customer service and understand the needs of students working in a digital environment.

Therefore, good IT skills and knowledge and experience of utilising digital learning tools is essential.


Key Responsibilities

As Learning Space Officer, your role will involve:

  • ensuring that digital and physical learning resources are appropriate to support teaching and learning and made available to students
- delivering appropriate service inductions for individuals and groups, both face-to-face and online
- promoting access to services both in the Learning Space and through a strong online and social media presence
- supporting students in navigating other online resources / VLE / Timetable / Student Gateway queries
- liaising with the education team and course teams about available resources and reading lists
- other ad-hoc duties supporting the Registry team or wider functions


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • First degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience of working in a busy customer focused environment
  • Knowledge or experience of working with a range of databases
  • Good level of IT literacy
  • Knowledge or experience of digital accessibility and learning tools

Desirable:


  • Knowledge and experience of higher education processes and systems, such as student facing support.
  • Knowledge or understanding of data protection rules.
  • Experience of delivering support within a college and/or experience of working in a learning resource centre
  • Good understanding of learner and customer needs and a track record of developing and delivering high quality outcomes for learners.
  • Experience with creating content for social media channels

  • Analytical and problemsolving capability.
  • Ability to effectively organise a varied workload, managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines.

  • Ability to form good working relationships with staff at all levels from across the institution.
  • Ability of participating in multidisciplinary teams to resolve Departmental/organisational problems.
