The Department of Anaesthesia is looking for a pro-active, enthusiastic individual to provide to support the Anaesthetic Department and the Divisional Leadership Team as a Rota Administrator.

Position available

  • 37.5 hours Full Time.
The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of the anaesthetic rota.

Working within defined protocols to ensure the department has the right number and skill mix of anaesthetic staff allocated
to each theatre/ clinic session.

The post holder will be a key point of contact for all rota related issues.
The position is based at the Queens Medical Centre Campus (QMC).

We are looking for someone who already has experience working with IT systems and can work under pressure in a busy hospital environment.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint is essential.

Working knowledge of CLW would be desirable.


Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are imperative as the role requires regular liaisons with both internal and external stakeholders.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


Ensure that the appropriate number of qualified and experienced anaesthetic staff are allocated to each theatre/ clinic session, taking into account the experience and speciality interests of the Trainees/ Consultants.

Ensure that accurate records are maintained in respect of annual leave and study days, for consultants, registrar's ad SHO's.

Support the preparation and distribution of the weekly, monthly and on call medical rotas.

Collect and collate patient information and their scheduled procedures for input into anaesthetic theatre lists.


Use own judgement to assess patient/ anaesthetist compatibility in order to roster the appropriate anaesthetic staff to the theatre list.

Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff regarding rota requests and changes. With changes sometimes at short notice, positive, assertive communication is essential.


Solve problems which occur on a daily basis, using own initiative and judgement to ensure the effective delivery of the anaesthetic service.

Salary:
The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
