THE ROLE


A unique opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial and Marketing department of Rangers Football Club as a Press & Communications Officer.


The full-time position will be based at lbrox Stadium, the Rangers Training Centre and at matches, reporting to the Head of Communications.

The purpose of the role is to support the club's day-to-day media operation, both internally and externally. This is a wide-ranging and fast-paced role, where no two days will be the same.

Domestic and occasional international travel will form part of the role, as will building fantastic relationships both within the club and with external media.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the club's communications plan, understand and formulate key lines and be able to brief club staff prior to media appearances.
  • Build strong relationships with club staff and external media.
  • Be able to write highquality copy for all platforms, such as press releases and articles on commercial partnerships, club events and supporter information.
  • Organise the club's media accreditation needs for home and away matches, and build good relations with opposition clubs.
  • Liaise with club media staff to arrange press conferences and media events and communicate those to external media.
  • Be the key point of contact with UEFA, SPFL and Scottish FA for media operations.
  • Manage the club media enquiries inbox and respond to enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Understand the key outcomes and tone for each area of the Communications & Content department to be able to support on each as and when required.
  • Support with the implementation of the club's internal communications structure.
  • Maintain a good understanding of Rangers F.C. culture and values, and act in the best interests of the club at all times.

THE CANDIDATE

Job Knowledge

  • An understanding of the unique nature of Rangers Football Club, Scottish football and football in general is essential.
  • Experience in a similar role and/or department would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines would be advantageous.
  • Experience of thriving in highpressure environments would be advantageous.
  • Proven ability to produce highquality copy would be advantageous.

Education and Qualifications

  • You should be educated to degree level in a communications/journalism discipline or have equivalent experience.
  • A full UK driving license is essential.
  • You must have a valid passport.
