Job description


The Integrated Data Service (IDS) delivered by the associated programme Integrated Data Platform (IDP) is intended to transform the way data is managed, used, and shared across government, unlocking the potential to increase efficiency, improve policy anddecision-making and provide better public services.

You will report to the Programme Director with a dotted line to the Deputy National Statistician for Data Capability, who is the Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) for the programme.


In this role, you will oversee the further development of the cross-Directorate strategy function working across Government and our client to ensure that their strategy and vision are well articulated, understood and delivered on.

This will entail collaborativework with Other Government Departments (OGD) and other partners, strong negotiation skills and the ability to establish and communicate strategic priorities.

You will ensure that the programme and its core delivery partners effectively engage and communicate with stakeholders.

This includes securing buy-in, selling the benefits and leveraging core roles across Government - e.g., Heads of Analysis and Chief DataOfficers - to ensure their support for the programme, both as data controllers and service users.

This will also include oversight of the programmes approach to senior governance and engagement with cross-government forums.


Essential Criteria:

  • A proven record of delivering impact, developing, and driving implementation of strategies in a multistakeholder environment.
  • Strategic thinking skills, with some understanding of datadriven and /or technical work, and the ability to make complex issues accessible to policy professionals and senior leaders.
  • Experience in developing and managing relationships with key stakeholders, including senior policy and decision makers, and data and analytical leads
  • An effective leader under uncertainty, setting direction on complex issues, reflecting wider strategic priorities, and communicating decisions effectively
  • Clear understanding of public data needs and analytical priorities, and ability to identify appropriate and efficient ways to address these
  • Experience in promoting your work area and organisation, demonstrating benefits to stakeholders and potential users or supporters, and growing interest in, and use of, your product/service
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills, including working in a matrix management environment focused on delivery.
