Role - Logistics Manager
Our client based in Bournemouth has an immediate requirement for an experienced Logistics Manager to manage the shipping team and coordinate the operation of both the warehouse and the Third-Party Logistics (3PL) warehouse.
Communication skills, both written and verbal, are paramount alongside excellent leadership and business managementskills.
The successful applicant will have excellent problem-solving capabilities and organisational skills, proficiency in logistics/inventory management software and have an in depth understanding of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring safety first policy is met and understood by the team whilst also ensuring adherence to company policies and relevant legal requirements.
- Managing relationship with external Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider.
- Managing relationship with landline logistics company.
- Ensuring accuracy of 3PL stock level on the in house webshop system.
- Managing replenishment stock levels with 3PL.
- Proposing addition to 3PL stock to improve OTD by analysing usage.
- Leading logistics cost saving initiatives, efficiency projects and drive OTD target of 98% to our customers by ensuring logistics delivery is meeting our targets.
- Improving stock accuracy to a target of 95% accuracy using cycle counting and proposing improvements to the picking and issuing of parts to production.
- Owning and ensuring the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost logistics boards are kept up to date and relevant information is provided to the management team.
- Ensures safety first culture and 5S requirements are being followed and understood by the team.
- Efficiently and accurately manage stock storage, placement and identification.
- Participate and lead logistics in any departmental improvement projects for the Supply Chain.
- Participate and train team members for any COS initiatives.
- Ensure work procedures & instructions are up to date & team members are trained in the processes.
- Manage Logistics, shipping and stores functions to meet company objectives.
- Manage people set objectives with regular performance reviews, manage absence and timekeeping.
- Responding to customer queries in a timely manner ensuring they receive an accurate and timely response.
- Manage contracts with logistics or packaging suppliers.
- Manage annual stock count process for SCM.
- Ensure stock accuracy, target 95%, in particular the controlled ATEX parts and 3PL.
- Review obsolescence and slowmoving parts.
- Review space requirements and opportunities to reduce our footprint and external storage costs.
- Review performance of logistics providers and recommend any changes or improvements.
- Start up and continued management of 3PL
- European taxation laws
- Experience of choosing (contract negotiation/tendering) to get a 3rd party logistics provider and then management of them using KPI's, targets etc
- Experience of getting value for money in logistics and management of on time delivery with customers
- Warehouse experience in managing stock control/accuracy
- Managing a team of people (this role will be managing a team of 13)
