THE ROLE

  • Working under our Group Product Officer, the Head of Womenswear will support in the delivery of the vision and strategy for Ted Baker's Womenswear clothing business. Leading and coordinating the Womenswear design team, this role will assume responsibility for the creative direction of Ted Baker's Womenswear business to produce creative, commercial and distinctive ranges that reflect our brand DNA.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Group Product Officer to set and execute the design direction for the company; developing a full channel business plan growth strategy and sales plan for Ted's Womenswear Clothing business.
  • Partner with the Buying & Merchandising teams to ensure commercial creative collections are delivered seasonally to cover our wholesale and retail business in domestic and international markets.
  • Attend Buy Sign Offs to represent the Womenswear clothing division, to debate, collaborate and give input as senior lead on design.
  • Manage styles from concept to production stage.
  • Continuous review of womenswear product needs; partnering with the Sourcing team to influence sourcing direction and ensure this is in line with Ted's standards based on quality, price and delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with our suppliers to achieve the best results.
  • Encourage collaboration across categories to ensure cohesive colour and patterns.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the business, ensuring exceptional communication and identifying new strategic and innovative opportunities within Womenswear.
  • Liaise closely with production & planning to make sure the women's design team is diligently following our 'Critical Path' production calendar.
  • Ensure WW Design creates product reflective of our 'Design Pyramid' (15% Concept, 35% Trend, 35% Core and 15% Continuative).
  • Inspire, motivate and managing the Womenswear clothing team, ensuring projects, targets and deadlines which are aligned with business needs are met and delivered.
  • Team management and succession planning; be instrumental in coaching & leading team members and have clear personal development plan for each team member to ensure growth, progression and succession planning within the team.
  • Budget management; ensuring costs are closely monitored and controlled and project briefs are delivered within set budgets.
  • Be an ambassador for the womenswear clothing category and act as an advocate for product integrity; updating Senior Managers within the Design, Trade and Wholesale teams as well as other execs across the wider business on high level design decisions.
  • Take responsibility for your categories board pack reporting Keeping up to date with design trends and innovation.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, PLM system training will be provided.
  • Vison for product and knowledge of the sector and understand the full manufacturing process from concept to delivery.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role, specifically focused on Womenswear Clothing; being an expert in your category and having solid industry knowledge.
  • Capable of providing strong leadership; ability to lead a team whilst also being able to demonstrate a handson approach
  • Commercially focused, making strategic and tactical recommendations whilst being able to take calculated risks
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, displaying strong organisational and time management skills working to strict deadlines.
  • A proactive and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with ability to manage and influence cross functionally.
  • Good conflict management skills.
  • High level of initiative.
