Skylark Ward/Paediatric Assessment Unit are looking for a ward clerk to join our friendly admin team.

This is a part time post, three shifts per week, 6.5 hours with flexibility in start and finish times in order to provide cover into the afternoon and early evening.

Skylark Ward is an acute 26 bedded Paediatric Ward with an 8 bedded PAU. Our ward clerks are an integral part of our service and team.

You will need to be a team player, have the ability to work on your own initiative, have a flexible approach to tasks, excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, be competent in using IT systems.


Excellent communication skills are required as you will be the first line of contact for our patients, relatives and for telephone queries.


To provide administrative support on Skylark Ward and PAU, and contribute to the effective running of the ward by concentrating on tasks which directly support administration systems and procedures.

For example; ordering the notes for inpatients, filing the notes post discharge.

Chasing unfinished discharge letters, answering the telephone and use of the Trust digital systems to admit/transfer and discharge patients.

Part of the role is administrative support for the ward sister such as, notice boards, training documents, letter writing etc, ordering of equipment and producing documents.
