Salary:Competitive with Great Benefits-The opportunity to join a small, specialist physical security team as a Physical Security Advisor, to make recommendations and implement security solutions for hundreds of BT buildings, personnel and asset security, across the North and South of Ireland. We interface and collaborate across all areas of BT and Openreach, locally and nationally, to best protect our people and business assets across the island of Ireland. Within this role, there will be opportunities to progress your career in the Physical Security team and across the wider BT and Openreach organisation. The role entails working with a wide range of security technologies and suppliers, both on existing legacy technologies and in testing, developing and implementing newer and evolving security solutions.

This role matters because:

  • It acts as a trusted Physical Security Advisor, providing professional services to the business in addressing risk management to protect the global BT/EE estate from human intervention prejudicing BT's business objectives and service to its customers.
  • Completion of security audits, advice and guidance on standards & specifications, compliance issues, external risk dynamics, Security Behaviours and Security systems and network support.
  • It actively supports, at all times, company policy and best practice in the area of security with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information.
  • It supports the response to physical security access control and Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) systems, incidents, and investigations to determine causes and make recommendations for corrective action.
  • It is responsible for the system administration of Electronic Access Control systems including Closed Circuit TV (CCTV), Alarm Management and Intruder Detection System (IDS).
  • It actively engages with the Protect BT programme to maintain risks to an acceptable level with particular focus on supporting the development and implementation of the Physical Security policy, strategy and security procedures for BT and Openreach, supporting business aims and takes into account legal, regulatory, Human Rights policy and resource constraints.
  • The role holder is highly motivated, resilient, works with empowerment and autonomously as part of the Networks, Protect BT and Global Country Security (CSO) community.
  • Key Skills Required for the Role
  • Ability to travel across Ireland and undertake site physical security risk assessments and provide associated reporting and recommendations for risk reduction and security improvement. This will include overnight stays and out of hours working.
  • Sound technical understanding of networking and networking terminologies e.g., routing, switching, IP addressing etc. Technical ability and willingness to adopt a handson approach to assist in initial system diagnostics supported by remote networks specialists.
  • Knowledge of Physical, site security good practices and security solutions to include Intruder alarm systems, Electronic Access Control (EAC), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and other technologies. Equally, sound knowledge of social engineering risks to the business to include vishing, smishing and phishing
  • Strong presentation and communication skills required: ability to present and communicate confidently across all corporate levels within the business (face to face and virtually).
  • Must be prepared to acquire and maintain security clearance, including thorough background checks appropriate to the role and evolving demands. Attaining and maintaining security clearance will be a mandatory requirement for this role.

  • Knowledge of Physical, site security good practices and security solutions to include Intruder alarm systems, Electronic Access Control (EAC), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and other technologies.
  • Proven diagnostic skills in determining root cause of system issues
  • Must be prepared to acquire and maintain appropriate security clearance, including thorough background checks, appropriate to the role and evolving demands.
