Main purpose of job:

To work as a team member of an award winning company, Above n Beyond, having responsibility to support young people including those who arrive from other countries to settle, become a responsible citizen and live independently in the community enabling them to have the necessary skills to maintain their own tenancy once they are eligible.


You will need to be compassionate,creative, and always go above n beyond in your role as a support woker ensuring the favourable reputation of the company with the Local Authorities and agencies we work in partnership with.


You will need to have at least 1 year experience of working with young people, have a relevant qualification to support your experience with children and young people and be willing to undertake further training.

You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a roadworthy car.


The post is full time 37.5 hours per week and you need to be available between 8.00am-8.00pm( flexible).Once confirmed in post, you will be required to undertake on call duties out of hours on a monthly rota.

*This is not a residential position.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide support to young people in conjunction with the guidelines set out within the Above n Beyond Support Agreement and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist in preparing young people to live independently working through modules to support the development of independence skills. Responsible for completing an independence Plan alongside young people to the capability and development of each individual.
  • Complete the young person's weekly report with detailed tasks undertaken of your work and the outcomes achieved.
  • Visit the allocated property in respect of a new referral and obtain all necessary furniture, equipment, before the move in date of the young person ensuring that all inventory items are in place.
  • Complete a Property Inventory Form with the young person on their first support visit and correspond to any existing estate agents inventory form, ensuring that all discrepancies are sorted with immediate effect.
  • Ensure that the young person's property is maintained high standards to a high maintained.
  • Report all damage and repairs to the property manager to agree if the Landlord needs to be advised. Alternatively, as agreed with the Operations Director, make arrangements for the repairs to be carried out via ANB maintenance.
  • Ensure that the property is thoroughly cleaned, including outside yard/garden and standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained.
  • Forward an Evaluation form and covering letter to the social worker/p.a. when a young person has left ANB.
  • Ensure the young person has an Evaluation form to complete within one week of leaving ANB.
  • Obtain information, including education, social, etc and places of reference for young people for a designated area and share information at team meeting with team members.
  • Complete mileage and expense forms at the end of each month and submit to the accounts Manager within 5 working days.
  • Record all emergency on calls via the On Call Log and circulate to all relevant personnel. Ensure that the relevant Manager is aware of the emergency on Monday morning.
  • Read and understand policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement is recorded and implemented.
Communication

  • To work as member of the team and contribute to its overall effectiveness.
  • To promote develop and maintain good public relations and the service.
  • To attend and participate in meetings as required including staff/ team and external meetings with other agencies including Social Services,Health, Education and legal teams.
  • To establish and maintain effective communication with relevant social work teams, ie EDT and other agencies in the community.
  • To use effective and appropriate communication with others, including young people, at all times.
  • To record and report all serious incidents and emergencies to the manager.
  • To prepare and attend a minimum of six weekly formal supervision.
Health and Safety

  • To read, understand and adhere to all policies relating to health and safety in the accommodation.
  • To take responsibility for health and safety in the accommodation.
  • To keep work place and work space in a clean and tidy manner.
  • To monitor work place to ensure safety of self and others and report any concerns.
  • To ensure effective incident and accident reporting and recording.
  • To be fully conversant with the health and safety obligations of the post.
  • To record and report all significant incidents and accidents.
  • To evacuate the building in an emergency.
  • To encourage young people to report any risks or concerns.
  • To ensure that all young people are aware of the health and safety policy and adhere to agreed guidelines.
