About Us and the Role


The Learning and Community Engagement (Lace) Officer works closely with the Senior Lace Officer and the Lace trainee to manage the day-to-day activity of the Lace team, support the development of the schools offer and manage the programming of the events and activities programme for all audiences at Market Hall Museum and other Heritage and Culture Warwickshire sites.


As a small team the Lace team works collaboratively across all areas of responsibility, with the Lace Officer taking a lead on community event programming.

This involves liaising with colleagues in the museum and County Record Office teams and developing ideas to attract new audiences.

Post pandemic the Lace team is looking to reinvigorate the events and activity programming for adult audiences.

The Lace Officer has been piloting hybrid events with colleagues at the Warwickshire County Record Office, the post holder would be able to continue this work.


The Lace team are coming to the end of a period of development for the schools programme and for the term of this contract will have a specific focus on developing an offer for the Key Stage 3 audience.

Previous experience of working with a Key Stage 3 audience would be an advantage.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with previous experience of working in a heritage learning environment. The post is being offered as a 9 month contract with potential for extension.

Heritage and Culture Warwickshire (HCW) provide a wide range of services that help local communities and visitors to connect and engage with their local heritage.

We safeguard Warwickshire's archives, history and natural sciences, protect its historic and natural environment and provide high quality arts and cultural opportunities and lifelong learning for everyone in the County and beyond.


Heritage and Culture Warwickshire has several sites based in and around Warwick, Market Hall Museum, St Johns House, Warwickshire County Record Office and a Collections Centre for the museum collections.

We are a countywide service and working with partners from within and outside Warwickshire County Council offer outreach services to local communities.

About the Learning and Community Engagement team


The Learning and Community Engagement team (Lace) consists of the Senior Lace Officer, a Lace Officer, the Lace Trainee, the Volunteer Coordinator, Exhibitions and Engagement Officer, who are the core team, and several teams of staff who deliver our activity programmes.

We deliver workshops for schools at HCW sites and in schools, an events and activities programme for families and adult audiences at the Market Hall museum and the County Record Office, we run regular groups that meet at the Market Hall museum such as Arty Tots, support the Development Team with income generation and support the team of volunteers that work with different services in HCW.

The Lace team works closely with other teams in HCW to support exhibition and project development and delivery.

Members of the Lace team will write and contribute to the writing of funding grants across HCW and the evaluation reports for projects.

They sit on project groups to ensure the delivery of projects, working with colleagues across HCW and external partners.

Our school workshop programme is delivered by a team of Group Leaders, assisted by the Support Assistant team. Details of the offer to schools can be found on the Heritage and Culture Warwickshire website.

The Support Assistant team, with the Evening and Overnight Activity Leaders team, deliver our family holiday events in the Market Hall Museum and evening events.

The Evening and Overnight Activity Leaders also supervise and run group sleepovers at the Market Hall Museum.


The Lace team has a responsibility to income generate part of it's annual operating budget and runs a range of events that engage audiences with local heritage as well as contributing to this responsibility.

The Lace team also works with the Development Team to develop new income generation activities.
