Accounting & General Ledger department deals with all accounting functions, from management and financial accounting, budgeting, systems accounting, complex treasury function through to processing receipts and payments. Reporting to the ManagementAccountant this role is initially being offered as a 12 month Fixed Term Contract._


Key Purpose

  • Delivery of robust financial reporting
  • Contributing to a dataled ethos in decision making within the business through development of financial management information and trend analysis
  • Oversight and control of overhead cost

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and analyse key variances against prior period and budget
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations as a key control to ensure accuracy of monthly reporting
  • Take ownership of accounting for overhead costs, including posting monthly accrual and prepayment journals and reviewing/challenging costs.
  • Develop and maintain clear management information for distribution and presentation to key stakeholders.
  • Support with the annual budgeting process, including determining expected overhead costs for the next financial year
  • Assist with the development of margin analysis and profitability reporting.

Skills, Experience & Background

  • Professional accountancy qualification (minimum AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA/CIMA partqualified)
  • Proven experience in a finance role
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel (comfortable with pivot tables, nested formulas, key functions including VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, IF, SUMIF, SUMPRODUCT etc.)
  • Selfmotivated and comfortable working independently, with the confidence to seek support or input from line manager and colleagues wherever required
  • Experience in managing and communicating with stakeholders outside the Finance team
  • Appetite to further develop technical accounting and industry knowledge
  • Exposure to or desire to learn technical programming languages e.g. SAS, SQL, VBA, Crystal Reporting, Power BI
