Senior Estimator

Civil Engineering

Location - Warrington, North West

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to join an established and growing business unit involved in estimating contracts and projects during pre-contract/tender stage for a range of civil engineering, rail and aviation projects in our Northern region.

Business Unit


A busy and fast paced work winning team involved in a range of projects at pre-contract/tender stage covering civil engineering works in a variety of sectors to include rail (bridges, embankments, stations, platforms, tunnels etc.), Environment Agency, Local Authority etc.

The pre-contract/work winning team are involved in multi-disciplinary civils projects across the whole business whether one off tendered projects or projects within our long term national framework / contract agreements with key clients.


Existing contracts include rail CP6 infrastructure projects and minor works, aviation civils maintenance and Environment Agency frameworks with works typically including bridge re-construction/replacement, upgrades and refurbishments, station work (platforms, access for all etc.), structures including bridges, tunnels and footbridges.


The Role
As Senior Estimator, the key tasks and responsibilities of your role will include but not be limited to:

  • The effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation
  • The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery
  • The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings
  • Liaison with the Supply Chain team in respect of placing supplier / subcontractor enquiries
  • Technical and commercial appraisal of construction labour, plant, materials and temporary works
  • Take offs from drawings and production of cost effective tenders from first principles.
  • The effective analysis and pricing of risks
  • The preparation of tender submission documents
  • The preparation of estimating reports
  • Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions

Requirements:


To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Senior Estimator in a civil engineering environment (ideally within rail but other civils project backgrounds will be considered).


Essential:


  • First Principles Estimating experience
  • Civil engineering project experience
  • Experience as a Senior Estimator in a civil engineering and/or rail contractor organisation
  • Working knowledge of Excel (& Word) and estimating software.

Preferred

  • Rail experience would be beneficial but civils experience in other sectors such as aviation and highways will be considered.
