This role is an exciting opportunity to work with Birmingham Children's Trust which will soon complete its fifth year and which marked a fresh start for the way children and families are supported in Birmingham.


Working 36.5 hours per week - you will work with all areas of Birmingham Children's Trust Practice and Business Support to fulfil the role of Principal Officer, Case Management Systems and process.

You will report to the Head of ICT and matrix into the Assistant Director Practice Improvement and Development.


This is a key role to bring about effective improvement in the Trust's development and use of its social care case management systems.

The post is a full-time role.

Key experience you will expected to have will include the following:

  • An experienced social work manager with management experience and a good knowledge of practice requirements and experience of working at a strategic level.
  • Experience of working with Technical ICT teams to collaboratively investigate and understand social care business process and ICT system issues that impact Practice.
  • Experience of collaboratively developing strategic workable business process and ICT solutions whilst leading practice and business support engagement and buyin.
  • Experience of leading and managing change within an organisational context.
  • Experience of promoting practice which improves outcomes for children and understanding of dealing with poor performance.
  • Working within at least three different Social Care environments, complex case management including Court work and in a multiagency context.
  • Leading improvement, and quality assurance frameworks and business processes to improve the quality of social care practice.
  • Experience of supporting Ofsted inspections and Peer reviews.
  • Evidence of understanding the importance of management information, data and how to use this to inform business intelligence, how this is collated, used and reported upon.
  • Proven substantial experience of leading and managing teams of social care staff to meet targets and through periods of organisational change.
  • Evidence of providing strong leadership, direct and indirect staff management, including recruitment, performance and development.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills including impactful presentations to different audiences to affect attitudinal change and ensure commitment.
  • An up to date working knowledge of effective evidencebased practice, legislation, statutory frameworks and professional standards.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, challenge and resolve conflict whilst exercising individual judgement and to consult where and when appropriate. Ability to be flexible, creative and use your initiative.
