Applications are invited for HCOOP & Operational Patient Flow Services Lead in General and Specialist Medicine at EKHUFT. The position will be based at William Harvey Hospital, however some cross-site cover may be necessary at times. This is offered as a permanent position.

The G&SM group is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced manager in the role.

Reporting to the Deputy Operations Director the successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the Operational and Clinical teams to deliver safe and effective services.

The successful applicant would have extensive experience in operational management and the management of teams


To provide senior operational business management support for the specialty of HCOOP (Health Care of Older People), ensuring delivery of high-quality clinical services.

To support the services in delivering a high quality, efficient and profitable service.

To provide professional and managerial leadership for a team of discharge advisors and discharge mangers.

By working in conjunction with the Clinical flow manager as a operational lead and key member of the flow team across all General and Specialist Medical wards you will ensure a positive patient experience through the delivery of safe and timely patient discharge.

As the operational lead for patient flow, you will have responsibility for the standards of discharge planning in your areas and will be accountable for:

  • Securing and assuring the highest standards of effective discharge and flow with the support of the, Clinical Flow Manager, Ward Operation Managers, Discharge Coordinators, Ward Managers, Matrons and Deputy Head of Nursing, General Managers and Deputy Operations Director
Undertake a range of projects and delegated duties according to the needs of the specialty. To assist the specialty in developing all new services and ensure all new services are fully commissioned. To co-ordinate project work and deliver agreed milestones and ensure objectives are met. Work with colleagues to agree and implement improvements to the service.
