Description

This exciting new role will provide dedicated clinical and educational support to staff within the South East London Breast Screening Programme.

Whilst the primary focus will be on supporting colleagues enrolled on mammography apprenticeship and post-graduate mammography courses, the post holder will also provide educational support to wider team members according to the needs of the service.

As an HCPC registered radiographer holding the UK post-graduate mammography certificate, you will use your mentorship experience to encourage colleagues, helping them to meet their individual learning and development needs.

By providing a greater access to high quality training and development, you will be helping colleagues identify opportunities available to them, so improving staff motivation.

You will retain a clinical component to your role, spending time each week performing mammography within the breast screening, breast assessment and symptomatic clinics.

Whilst the clinical component will be largely undertaken within the main hospital site, you will also be expected to work on each of the breast screening static sites and mobile vans that cover the South East London Breast Screening Programme area.

You will act as a mentor to colleagues enrolled on mammography courses, working closely with the departmental clinical trainers and management team to ensure the individual developmental needs of each learner are met.

You will meet regularly with each learner to review their progress, provide necessary clinical support, and to set new learning objectives.

You will be an accredited Practice Educator with the College of Radiographers, or if you do not hold this accreditation, you will undertake a relevant post-graduate practice education module upon commencing the role.
