We are looking to recruit an experienced Product Development Engineer with knowledge of SolidWorks / AutoCAD and / or other similar design software, for an technical communications company, based on the outskirts of Dartford.

The team are lively, friendly, and professional; and the company has a great office environment and ethos.


Job Description:

The Engineer will assist in the process of product development and design.

They will update and maintain existing designs and supporting materials, and contribute to the development of new product concepts, ready for manufacturing.

Being a small team, employees tend to carry out multiple assignments and obligations; the Product Development Engineer will be expected to help wherever required including, when necessary, in the warehouse, with dispatch and assembly areas.

This is very mucha proactive role.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • BSc/ BA/ BEng in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design / Product Design or a similar field
  • 1 or more years' industry experience ideally working in a similar design / development role within a manufacturing environment (placement experience will be considered also)
  • Proficient using SolidWorks / AutoCAD or similar design software
  • Knowledge of different materials and manufacturing processes eg sheet metals etc.
  • Ability to take initiative, working well individually, and as part of a team, practically and analytically
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Flexibility to travel nationally and internationally when required

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the product design and development process
  • Working with the design team to design, refine, maintain and develop both new and existing products and concepts
  • Establishing and preserving relationships with manufacturers
  • Documenting and detailing product data for testing
  • Writing and presenting reports
  • Producing specific BOM's
  • Working with suppliers, customers and subcontractors
  • Scheduling production and delivery timescales and costs
  • Detailing design documents and associated information packages
  • Assisting the installation / assembly team on site / warehouse when necessary
  • Producing drawings, renderings and other documentation for clients and architects
  • Controlling stock through reports and delivery notes.

Overview:


This role requires a person who is organised, works well under pressure, can show initiative, and has attention to detail.

Computer literate, with considerable knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office and Design Software, as well as proven accuracy in Mathematics and the English language.

  • Start date: March, with a 3month probationary period
