Description

Occupying three beautiful campuses (Whiteknights, with its early 19th century planned landscape, London Road with its formal gardens and ceremonial Great Hall, and Greenlands, Henley-on-Thames, with its riverside garden landscape) the unique "University within a Park" setting of the University of Reading is an inspiring place to come to work.

As well as being responsible for the management and maintenance of the University's academic teaching and research buildings, the Estates Team also cares for a significant collection of Champion Trees, an expansive lake, and the University's Sports Park.

With such a varied portfolio, there is never a dull day in the Estates Department.

As part of its continuing strategy to enhance project delivery at the University, the Estates Department is looking to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated individual to provide high-quality administrative support for the Project Delivery Team.

As an integral member of the team, the post holder will be responsible for proactively liaising with colleagues in Estates, Finance and Procurement, as well as other University stakeholders, external consultants, and suppliers, to ensure that critical project information and finances are managed efficiently throughout the course of each project.

Specific support will be provided to the Projects Director and Project Leads in the creation, collation, checking and analysis of financial data and other project information, including managing the Capital Projects Review process.

Advice on the correct use of the project delivery methodology will also need to be provided to Project Team members, consultants and customers alike, so good communication skills and a high standard of customer service will be essential.

  • Familiarity with, and expertise in, a wide range of financial/administrative activities and functions, including the improvement and maintenance of databases and filing systems.
  • Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team within a Higher Education environment or other stakeholder focused team.
  • Ability to work independently when prioritizing workloads and managing time, particularly when working to tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, flexible and positive approach to dealing with team logistics and customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence to liaise directly with senior colleagues to sensitively 'chase' information and/or decisions.
