Capstan Setter/Operator on Ward 3's
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Capstan Setter/Operator to join our manufacturing team.
As a Capstan Setter/Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating Ward 3 machines using Landis or Coventry die heads, Fette rollers, and broaching techniques to produce precision threaded parts.
Your expertise will contribute to the efficient and accurate production of high-quality components. This is a full-time position with working days, and the pay rate is up to £14 per hour.Responsibilities:
- Set up and prepare Ward 3 machines for operation, ensuring proper alignment, tooling, and adjustments are made according to specifications.
- Operate Ward 3 machines to produce precision threaded parts, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Utilize Landis or Coventry die heads, Fette rollers, and broaching techniques to create accurate and highquality threaded components.
- Monitor machine operations, making necessary adjustments to maintain product quality and maximize production efficiency.
- Inspect finished products for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine malfunctions, performing routine maintenance tasks and reporting any major issues to the supervisor.
- Follow standard operating procedures and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain production records and logs, documenting machine settings, production output, and any quality issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with the team to identify process improvements, enhance productivity, and contribute to the overall success of the department.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Capstan Setter/Operator or similar role, preferably with Ward 3 machines.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating Landis or Coventry die heads, Fette rollers, and broaching tools.
- Solid understanding of precision machining processes and threading techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Proficient in using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing highquality work.
- Good mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills.
- Familiarity with routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve production targets.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean working area.
