Psychology Student Teaching Assistant

Are you currently studying Psychology at University and want to use the skills you're learning within education and developing the lives of young people within schools? Or perhaps you're looking to progress into a career as an Educational Psychologist, but you first want to gain vital experience?


SupplyGo are looking for Psychology students to assist us in meeting the requirements of the schools that we work with.

We have a fantastic track record of working with students and we would love to work with you. We can find you work around your busy university timetable.

You will have the opportunity to work within day nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, and special needs schools/environments.

Work is completely on your terms, and you will not be expected to work within an environment that you are not comfortable or confident working in.


You will have the chance to use your theory, research, and techniques from your university course to support children and young people within schools to promote their emotional and social wellbeing.

You will support those with learning difficulties and strive for them to achieve their full potential.

You will be expected to work as a Learning Support Assistant, or a Teaching assistant on a 1:1 basis, or working with small groups or children with Emotional and Behavioural Challenges, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism.

Typically, you will work 8.30am - 3.30pm, however half days are available to suit around lectures. You have the option of working on an adhoc basis, or long term. We offer a flexible pattern to suit you.


We are looking for;

  • Strong, passionate Psychology students to work within different schools in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
  • To have experience working, or want experience working with children and additional needs.
  • A calm, caring demeanour, with a willingness to learn.
  • You to have a passion working with SEND and mental health.

Your duties will include;

  • Setting up equipment for lessons.
  • Maintaining and keeping the classroom safe and tidy.
  • Motivating and encouraging pupils.
  • Monitoring children's behaviour and progress.
  • Keeping pupils engaged with their learning, following the national curriculum.
  • Encouraging pupils to interact and engage within activities.
  • Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to their individual needs and personalities.

You will need to have;

  • Transferrable schools from your personal or working life.
  • The ability to demonstrate active listening skills and strong verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships and understand the individual needs of the children in your care.
  • The ability to provide varying levels of individual attention, reassurance, and support.
  • A personable, calm, and caring demeanour.

£77.50-£92.50 per day
