Job Role - Industrial Door/Loading Bay Trainee (fitters mate)

Rowland Door Services Limited is privately owned business with 40 years trading history within the loading bay and industrial Industry with it's head office based in the South of Birmingham.

We supply, install and maintain a wide variety of loading bay equipment for the automotive, manufacturing, warehouse loading and distribution networks and sectors with a nationwide prestigious client portfolio.


We have provided high quality product solutions, outstanding customer service and industry-leading repair and maintenance services for all our high speed roller shutter doors and loading bay equipment since we were founded 40 years ago and this remains our sole focus.

A person who is keen to learn and progress in the Loading Bay / Industrial Door sector. To work alongside a senior engineer to carry out installations, repair and servicing activities on new and existing products.


RDS provides full training for all engineers to ensure personal development, we have many examples of engineers that have started at junior level and progressed through the business and are now fully fledged engineers that have grown with the business.


Key Responsibilities

  • Working alongside a trained engineer assist them throughout the working day as they undertake a wide variety of tasks across a multitude of industrial door/loadings bay products across a broad spectrum of different clients within multiple sectors.
  • Assist a trained engineer with the repair/service/installation of loading bay products, high speed doors, barriers/gates, pedestrian doors and roller shutters doors.
  • Demonstrate the willingness and potential to accurately interpret and install/repair equipment as defined in the process documentation, installation manuals and engineering drawing information and specifications
  • Assist with maintenance visits and make repair and replacement recommendations to the service staff
  • A strong desire and personal aspirations to achieve high levels of workmanship and to develop their own personal development with an ultimate goal to work achieve a skilled trade as an industrial door/loading bay engineer.
  • To be rostered into an annual call out (alongside their partnered engineer) rota to provided 24 hour coverage to our clients that require around the clock support. The rota is split amongst our entire engineer workforce, structured stand by fees for the week of call will be provided and then additional fees per call out and rates of pay as per agreed rates within terms and conditions.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Will commit to a personal development program to develop vocational skill levels in one or more of the following disciplines electrical, mechanical, welding, hydraulics
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and heights
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adherence to health and safety legislation
  • A willingness to work long hours and weekends (all at premium rates of overtime pay)

Essential and desired requirements:

  • One of the abovementioned core skills
  • Hands on technical aptitude (essential)
  • Full clean driving licence (essential)
  • Experience of working in construction (desired)
  • CSCS card (desired)
  • IPAF/PASMA Licenses (desired)

Salary

Additional pay

  • Pre planned annual call out rota standby fee and individual call out fees paid along with salary
  • Shift allowance for required out of hours works
  • Yearly bonus (business performance dependent)
  • Incentive schemes i.e team of the month etc

£10.00-£12.50 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:


All Interviews will be held at our head office in Birmingham and upon the candiudate being chosen you will working alongside a dedicated engineer with a purpose supplied vehicle (assigned to the fitter of the team).

  • Our clients require some works to be conducted outside of normal working hours (weekends/night shifts) as much notice as possible will be provided to anyone asked to work outside of normal hours, will this be a problem for you?
  • A call out rota exists for all engineering teams to support our clients 24/7, at present the rota stands at 1 full week of cover (Monday
  • Monday) per 8 weeks, will this be an issue for you?

Licence/Certification:

  • Clean UK Driving Licence (required)
