Within your role you'll also provide strong budgetary controls around the project portfolio and will be directly involved in cost-benefit assessment, commercial viability and sign off for business cases.


_ What you will be responsible for:_

  • Management Accountant working as a business partner to provide clear sound advice and reporting to key project personnel regarding the long term planning and budgeting of all expenditure
  • Maintain a clear understanding on Project overhead and capital expenditure, conducting regular meetings with cost centre managers and Project Managers to discuss actual spend, challenge key variances and forecast review on a monthly basis.
  • Develop a good understanding of all Customer Operations and Ways of Working areas. Work closely with the Head of Planning & Resourcing and Head of Ways of Working to provide a rigorous input into monthly forecasting, budgetary control and long term planning, and ensure that demand requirements are captured effectively.
  • Develop and produce monthly dashboards/stream lead status reports to provide insightful analysis into planned, live and delivered projects
  • Develop a good understanding of Ways of Working procedures around project lifecycle from initiation to implementation
  • Manage and maintain the company Business Case template, making necessary changes to adapt to agile working and a changing business.
  • Lead structured business case reviews on behalf of Controlling ensuring that all business cases follow a defined set of standards and are based on realistic and viable cost assessment and benefit realisation assumptions
  • Work as a Project Accountant compiling and advising on all financials for the IAS Finance Platform Project and also for other emerging Headquarter (HQ) Global Programmes as required. Gain a full understanding of project cost drivers and undertake scenario modelling as required during project preimplementation phases
  • Key contact with HQ Controlling for queries and adhoc analysis relating to the IAS Finance Platform Project and applicable future HQ Global programmes.
  • Manage the budget approval process by promptly assigning budgets on request to specific project internal orders, reconciling budget commitments in SAP and advising project managers accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain the monthly total company overheads report based on SAP data that tracks underlying monthly spend against budget across all individual accounts, and ensure that material variances from budget are adequately explained. Provide the Group Financial Accountant with a monthly summary to be included within the Accounts Review Pack.
  • Process month end and year end journals in SAP for project and contractor accruals to ensure that the accounts reflect the correct costs by project, cost centre, account code and period.
  • Significant input into the annual budget process and Planning Round (5 year forecast) for timely submission to HQ, including project cost centres and GPPM HQ reporting

_ This is what you will bring to the role:_

  • Qualified/ Finalist Accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Experience of budgeting and forecasting discussions and analysis
  • Experience of senior stakeholder management
  • Able to communicate at all levels within the company including Board of Management (BoM) and confidently challenge and make recommendations regarding forecasting and budget setting
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, financial modelling and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines
  • Methodical and disciplined approach to work with ability to work without supervision
  • Ability to interrogate and analyse data in an effective and efficient manner
  • Ability to identify the root of a problem and provide solutions
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in the business
  • Strong MS Excel skills essential including report development experience.
