The starting salary for this role is £50,942 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.

Safeguarding Advisor to join our fantastic Guildford team.

The team is based at Guildford Borough Council, Millmead, Guildford and we are a diverse, forward thinking and supportive team with an active goal for sharing knowledge, increasing skills and training.

About the role


The post of
Locality Safeguarding Advisor brings an exciting opportunity for professionals to help frontline teams embed the principles of the "Making Safeguarding Personal" agenda and the roll out of the changes brought about by the Care Act.

You will lead on the development of safeguarding practice in the teams and with partner agencies. You will be able to provide safeguarding advice, guidance and chair safeguarding meetings.

In addition, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the Safeguarding Strategy ensuring all practice is fully in line with the multi-purpose training programme offered by the Surrey Safeguarding Adults Board.

You will receive supervision from the Locality Team Manager and professional supervision from the Senior Manager for Safeguarding. You will be supported to undertake relevant training to the role.

  • Provide leadership and professional safeguarding and leadership support to colleagues and other professionals
  • Manage a defined team providing clear direction and development
  • Promoting clear and positive working relationships with all key stakeholders and other professionals
  • To work inclusively, with a diverse range of workers and stakeholders and promote equality of opportunity
  • Professional Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Nursing or other qualification and registration with a professional body
  • Significant working knowledge of the current statutory framework for health and social care provision and relevant legislation and experience of coordinating safeguarding enquires
  • Strong decisionmaking skills and risk assessment experience
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations
  • Experience of supporting and managing colleagues
