Description

As the Canal Site Supervisor you will plan, manage and deliver a range of projects to restore and maintain the Cotswold Canals. Reporting to the Cotswold Canals Trust Operations Director you will lead and manage a team of volunteers and co-ordinate the equipment and materials required for each project. Volunteers will range in skills and experience, so you will need to have good communication and inter-personal skills to inspire and motivate your team. You will require previous experience as a Site Supervisor and have ideally worked with volunteers. Project tasks will range from towpath construction and maintenance, vegetation clearance and tree felling to lock restoration. This is a practical, hands on, outdoors role with all of the activities happening along the canal corridor from Saul Junction to Brimscombe Port.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Site supervision and leadership of volunteer teams.
  • Operate in full compliance with Health & Safety and other regulations and policies.
  • Comply with the relevant agreed designs and standards of workmanship required.
  • Planning and coordination of work activities, materials and equipment via the CCT Operations Director.
  • Work with other teams and plan with other canal Team Leaders to be flexible in providing cover for supervision of other volunteers during periods of holiday or absence.
  • Communications, inspiration and motivation of volunteers to create a happy, loyal and committed team
  • Encourage volunteer involvement and commitment to the longterm maintenance of the Cotswold Canals
  • Write and present reports to the CCT Operations Director and the Health & Safety Committee

Temporary contract

Contract length: 20 months


Salary:
£30,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
