***The Block Discounting & Wholesale division of Renaissance Asset Finance (RAF) provide finance to independent finance houses that want to use their loan books as security to develop their business.

Block Discounting is the purchasing of end-user finance agreements that must be assignable and originated by customers' in ''Block''.

The agreements, for example, can be either regulated and/or unregulated; finance lease/HP; sale and leaseback, sale and HP back; secured loans; unsecured loans; and/or facilities secured on a variety of underlying identifiable assets.

Most of the funded blocks will consist of agreements funding readily identifiable assets but RAF may fund portfolios incorporating unsecured loans where the borrower and underlying end user quality is considered satisfactory.

Wholsale differs slightly to Block Discounting as the agreements are not purchased and assigned to RAF but are captured by an all-asset debenture over the borrower.


  • Renaissance Asset Finance Limited (RAF) was established by its founder shareholders in February 2014. Following the exchange of contracts on 20th December 2016 between RAF's shareholders and Arbuthnot Latham & Co., Limited (AL), and subsequent regulatory approval, RAF became a wholly owned subsidiary of AL in April 2017. The Block Discounting and Wholesale division of RAF was created in August Provide administrative support by understanding the high level terms of pre approved block discounting and wholesale facilities and processing all new drawdowns on the facilities as well as completing in life maintenace of the facilities.
Key Responsibilities

  • Check block discounting & wholsale payouts drawn down on preapproved credit facilities are within term, before preparing documentation for payout, fully loading payout on the system before onward submission to Sales Support for 4 eye checks and payment.
  • Maintain Block customer accounts and files making sure they are up to date with the latest accounts/management info and audit info.
  • Monitor and satisfy charges registered at Companies House including arranging and overseeing execution of Deed of Release if required.
  • Security documentation to be kept up to date using Companies House Information and credit reference agencies reports.
  • Support the maintenance of how to guides.
  • Support complete complex customer requests that require analysis and bespoke work (e.g whole facility restructures).
  • Support new business opportunities and initiatives by developing relationships with customers.
  • Support sign off of AML and CDD for onboarding and annual reviews which may involve liaising with Compliance and Financial Crime teams if the client is rated as medium or high risk.
  • Support the collation, checks and recording of all correspondence for approval of block discounting & wholsale credit facilities and ensure they have been approved at the correct level and within the policy.
  • Support arranging and completing the registration of block discounting & wholsale contractual documentation at Companies House.
  • Identifying, designing and request new system reports as they become required by the business or clients.
  • Assist in the management of the collections of assigned portfolios, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Assist management on a daily basis.
  • General office duties i.e. filing, administration, answering telephone etc.
  • Communicate and escalate potential issues/risks in a prompt and effective manner.
  • To maintain an awareness of and compliance with legal processes and statutory requirements in new business with reference to the Consumer Credit Act, Data Protection Act and Anti Money Laundering Procedures and Fraud.
  • Ensuring SLA's and deadlines are reached. Motivate the team to achieve shared goals and develop in their roles.

Qualifications/Certification

  • Good level of general education, at least GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).

Experience (type & level)

  • Operations or sales support experience in a leasing or asset finance environment.

Knowledge/ExperienceInterpersonal**- Self-motivated individual with a sense of urgency.

  • Proactively work on own initiative but still be a team player.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines handling high workloads without impact on accuracy and quality of work.
