University College London Hospitals NHS Trust is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for a part time (6 PAs) consultant to lead, develop and improve the RLHIM Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia service and provide clinical outpatient services.


Suitable applicants must be eligible for full UK GMC Registration, MCEM / MRCP(UK) / MRCS (or equivalent), on GMC Specialist Register in relevant specialty,orat the time of interview within 6 months of expected date of CCT.


The post-holder will be accountable to Dr Chris Turner, Divisional Clinical Director of Queen Square and responsible to Dr Saul Berkovitz, Associate Clinical Director, RLHIM.

The job plan comprises 2.5 PAs including Direct Clinical Care (DCC) providing 1:1 patient assessment, treatment and review, and chairing a monthly multidisciplinary team meeting.

  • Clinical: Undertaking sufficient clinical activity according to the requirements of the job plan and demands of the service and demonstrating continued efforts to maintain or increase appropriate referrals into the service (within commissioning constraints
  • Governance: Responsibility for service audit and outcome evaluation (at least one report per year for the RLHIM audit report) and responsibility for any complaints or incident
  • Leadership: providing minutes of at least six team meetings per year demonstrating appropriate activities such as safeguarding, service improvement and quality assuranc
  • The post holder, while accountable to the Associate Clinical Director and guided by national and local Trust policies, will be expected to exert a high degree of responsibility for their interpretation and implementation at local level
  • Improved quality, capacity and efficiency at RLHIM for treatment of patients suffering from ME/CFS+FMS
  • Improved integration with other clinical services within RLHIM, Queen Square Division and the wider UCLH Trust in provision of services
  • Improved links with primary care, possibly including outreach clinics
