Working under the direct supervision of the Lead Nurse strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care.

The healthcare assistant will provide an important service to patients, carrying out procedures and supporting patient's.

The healthcare assistant also supports the delivery of the service by providing some administrative support such as ordering clinical supplies.

The roles requires initiative and good judgement but will always be supported by other more senior clinicianson duty who will be available to advise.

Duties and responsibilities:
New Patient Health Checks Blood Pressure recording ECG Ear Irrigation Phlebotomy Dressings Administration of influenza and B12 injections Chaperoning duties Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GP's/Nurses
- to ensure specimens are ready for collection by the pathology lab. Vaccine/cold chain storage monitoring and recording Preparing and maintainingenvironments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GP's during the performance of minor operations Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taughtspecificallyin relationto that individual Help raise awareness of the health and well-begin and how it can be promoted Assisting with the collection and collation of data on the needs related to health and well-begin Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms Follow practice protocols eg infection control, health & safety, clinical waste
