On August 1st, 2023, City College Southampton, Eastleigh College and Fareham College merged to form the South Hampshire College Group.

This merger represents an exciting opportunity for the region's students, offering defined pathways into employment, with employers benefiting from a more joined up approach that will create work ready employees aligned to the region's growth agenda as well as a fresh start for all staff by embedding best practice, resources and cultures that will deliver an outstanding college.

The South Hampshire College group has a turnover of around £42 million and employ over 800 staff.

Annually, the group would be responsible for the education and training of more than 3,600 students aged 16-19, over 1,200 apprentices and over 5,000 adults.


The Careers Centre is looking for a highly organised Careers & Outreach Advisor to join its innovative, friendly team working in a fast-paced environment.


We are looking for someone to have a friendly and approachable manner, and they must be highly organised and have a very keen eye for detail as there is a high amount of data entry.

If you have strong organisational skills, are trained or are working towards to your Level 4 Information, Advice and Guidance qualification, have experience of handling confidential information and are a clear and concise communicator, then you may be who we are looking for.


Role Purpose

Duties

  • Provide consistent and current information, advice and guidance to prospective and existing students.
  • Liaise with the Department of Work and Pensions on our provision and the offer of our programmes.
  • To organise and attend recruitment days.
  • Representing the College at IAG and careers events ensuring that the information, advice and guidance is consistent and promotes our adult offer.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required

  • The ability to handle multiple enquiries, work flexibly and prioritise as appropriate
  • A general understanding of the FE curriculum, success rates and funding methodology
  • Excellent organisational skills and a track record of working within a busy team
  • Awareness of recent developments in FE funding and study programmes
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of customers.
