Scottish Water have an exciting and rewarding opportunity within the South Risk & Lifecyle Planning Team to become a Wastewater Asset Planner, primarily covering the Borders area.

The role of Asset Planner within the Strategic Customer Service Planning (SCSP) Directorate is to understand asset performance and risk to support the delivery of customer focussed interventions.


We are looking for someone to help shape strategies for the future, while involving stakeholders at all levels within and out with the business.

This is an interesting role where you will be given the opportunity to enhance your technical and people skills by interacting with various areas of the Scottish Water business.

You will be empowered to make decisions and take ownership for the assets you are responsible for while working in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Future Transformation

SCSP are working on several transformation initiatives through Sustainable Investment Decision Making (SIDM). The Asset Planner Role will transform into a Wastewater System or Risk Planner role. The future role will support asset system level planning, linked with investment appraisals and management approaches (MA).

The responsible person will align investment and pro-active asset inspection, enhancing asset data held within corporate systems to support future investment and risk profile modelling.

This allows us to transform how we work and empower smarter investment choices which enable sustainable and inclusive economic growth to support a flourishing Scotland.


Whilst this role primarily covers the Borders area, it is anticipated that a large part of the role can be carried out from the location that suits you best, including from your home, but some travel will be required to other Scottish Water offices and project sites.

A driving licence, therefore, is essential for this role.


What you'll need:


Excellent communication skills are key as we would like the successful role holder to build strong relationships by influencing and engaging communities across the business.

Alongside this, written communication skills are also important as well-structured technical reports and presentations will be required, with specifications providing focussed information and actionable recommendations.


What you'll get:


The salary band for this role is £34,609 - £47,149 per annum (depending on experience) and it is a full-time position.
