The role includes planning and delivering a wide range of activities including:

  • Supporting groups of children within lessons
  • Taking small groups of children out of lessons for additional sessions
  • Delivering a range of support programmes to children, for which training will be provided, as necessary
  • Liaising closely with the class teacher and parents/carers
  • Contributing towards a nurturing environment and providing support for children in their emotional and social development
  • Providing first aid cover for pupils training can be provided if necessary
  • Monitoring medical needs and administering medicine, as appropriate
  • Delivering a club each week to pupils
  • Attending regular phase meetings


All of our support staff have an additional contract as a welfare member of staff for 2.5 hours per week, as they also support the children over their lunchtime, supervising them in the dinner hall and as they play out, which provides consistency for the children in our care.

Essential Qualifications

Maths and English GSCE Grade C or equivalent

Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate

Desirable Qualifications

First Aid Certificate
