We're looking for a motivated individual to join our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) Department in the Strategic Partnerships Team.

Working as an FCRM Advisor the role will support project and programming teams to deliver the FCRM capital and revenue programmes.

In this role you will work across departments to ensure that we are delivering strategic actions from the Northumbria Flood Risk Management Plan through collaborative working.

You will develop and sustain local strategic partnerships which help deliver innovative flood risk schemes that support a sustainable approach.

You will provide ongoing support to the local Coastal Groups, including leading on the Environment Agency's input into the Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) process, especially regarding any further work on action planning, SMP change, and annual reporting of action plan progress.

You will help co-ordinate technical advice and support the 5 Flood and Coastal Innovation Resilience Projects in the North East.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You'll be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training/alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.


  • The team
  • This role will sit in the Strategic Partnerships Team, but you will frequently be working as part of flood risk project teams, as well as with a variety of other EA teams and partners. This is a welcoming and motivated team committed to achieving the objectives of the national FCERM Strategy.


  • Experience/skills required

  • This role is varied and draws upon a diverse range of transferrable skills. We are looking for someone with the following.
  • Educated to degree level and be able to demonstrate relevant experience of working in a project or partnership environment
OR

  • Have significant experience of working with others to deliver great results.
  • Is well organised and able to work effectively under pressure.
  • Responsible for providing regular, accurate and timely updates on progress. Preparing and delivering reports and presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Has strong, effective communication skills (written and verbal) and a proven ability to present convincing verbal and written advice to key stakeholders.
  • Be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and respond to challenges
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
