We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join our business based out of our manufacturing facility in Foston, Derbyshire on a full time, permanent basis.


The purpose of this role will be to source goods, materials and services to ensure that Tophat's operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
  • Support the planning function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
  • Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
  • Assist the buying team with the monitoring of any market trends.
  • Carry out basic analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities and make recommendations
  • Track and review commodity movements and make recommendations as to how this could influence product design
  • Prepare reports and updates as and when required
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements

Do you fit the bill?

  • Proven experience in a supportive role to a buying team within a fastpaced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP systems
  • Basic knowledge of purchasing tools and techniques
  • Strong organisational and problemsolving skills
  • Be a team player, with a positive attitude and ability to think outside of the box
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate TopHat values
  • CIPS membership (desirable)
