Description
Our client is currently recruiting for a Locum Speech and Language therapist to be block booked at their adult service for a period of 2-3 months.
Duties:
- To implement safe, effective, high quality and evidencebased speech and language therapy interventions.
- To contribute autonomously to the initial assessment and formulation of speech, language and communication needs and input to decisions around educational placement.
- To assess and provide therapy interventions for a caseload of students with complex needs within an educational setting with broad support from a clinical supervisor.
- To maintain accurate and contemporaneous records following departmental procedures.
Requirements:
- Experience of working with children who are supported by Education, Health and Care Plans or Statements of SEN.
- Experience of working with children with complex special needs including sensory impairment and challenging behavior.
- Experience of communicating successfully with the parents of pupils who have special educational needs.
- Experience of assessing pupils with special educational needs in order to plan and Implement individual education plans.
Qualifications and Training:
- Qualified therapist status.
- Member of HPC & Member of RCSLT
- Evidence of recent and relevant CPD
- Evidence of ASD specific training e.g. PECS, TEACCH, SCERTS
Required experience:
For this role we would be looking for a Band 6 or experienced Band 5. Experience with children or young adults is also desired.
Experience of supervising staff and students as well as knowledge of current legislation relating to their role.
Further info:
Working hours for this role will be 8.30pm-4.30pm with some occasional Wednesday overtime till 6pm.
An enhanced DBS can be provided after interview should you not have one updated.
