East Cheshire Trust combines an obstetric led unit & an integrated birth centre for low risk women with access to two pool rooms.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic & forward thinking maternity team.

Following an almost 3 year closure due to COVID we are very proud of our achievements in reinstating our inpatient service.

We are looking for an adaptable individual who has excellent interpersonal skills, works well as part of the multi-disciplinary team & has an ability to work under pressure, whilst moving the services forward.

Hours per week: 37.5 permanent / 30 hours fixed term (covering maternity leave)

Clinical Leadership and Practice


To act as shift leader on labour ward and provide a high level of clinical expertise, leadership and management in the maternity department, obstetric theatre and community as required whilst supporting the Medical, Midwifery and support staff.

To manage and co-ordinate staff and workload on the ante/postnatal and labour ward.

To take a lead role in the management of acute obstetric emergencies.


To be responsible for leading the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of care for mothers, babies and families during the intrapartum episode.


To provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership and will have responsibility for the efficient running of the intrapartum care areas and Triage on a shift by shift basis.

To focus upon professional and clinical issues as well as day to day operational management of area of responsibility.
