Horton Housing is a not-for-profit Housing Association that manages a wide range of different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire. We offer support to a variety of people, including those who are homeless or at risk, young people and refugees. We offer accommodation, skills and language support, and use a strength based approach to help the people we support achieve their goals in a manner which works for them.
We are currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker to join our New Start service - based in Bradford. This role is 35 hours per week.


The role


As a Support Worker for New Start, you will be responsible for assisting people in their day to day life skills set, which will include supporting people to maintain their tenancy agreements, achieve successful outcomes and reduce the risk of re-offending.

You will be responsible for delivering tenancy ready training and support to enable people to move on into permanent housing.

You will assist people in the practical and emotional aspects of maintaining their accommodation and liaising with other support services.

You will ensure immediate needs are met, such as access to welfare benefits, food, clothing and health care. You will provide appropriate support based on the person's needs, using assessment and support plans.


What we are looking for

  • An understanding or experience of the challenges faced by people going through difficult times e.g. homelessness, illhealth, offending, unemployment etc.
  • Understanding of and/or experience of strengthbased, personled approaches
  • Experience in a working environment supporting people with similar backgrounds as our clients
  • Experience of working in a housing and/or health and social care setting. Examples include tenancy management, housing related support, supported housing, hostel and residential care
  • Valid driving licence and use of vehicle for work purposes
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Ability to work flexible hours

What Horton offers in return?
In return, this role is offering a salary of up to £24,652 (Pending 6% pay increase from 1st April).
