We are looking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join the friendly team that makes up our accountancy practice based in Lancing, West Sussex.

We work with small and owner-manager businesses, providing a full range of accounting services.

As part of our bookkeeping team, communication skills, flexibility and the ability to adapt to meet the needs of different customers are vital.

The key responsibilities will include:
- bookkeeping to Trial Balance on Xero for a variety of business types, including shops, restaurants, builders, consultants etc
- entering invoices, bills and payments, reconciling bank and other accounts, entering journals including relating to payroll
- ensuring items are recorded correctly for both VAT registered and non

VAT registered businesses, including those with more complex VAT situations such as the domestic reverse charge and overseas transactions

- sending queries to clients and dealing with their responses, including chasing clients as needed
- responding to queries from clients
- preparation of VAT and/or CIS returns, depending on experience
- have bookkeeping experience, preferably but not necessarily in a bookkeeping or accountancy practice
- be a competent user of Excel and Outlook
- have experience of using Xero

Salary depending on experience.

25 hours per week but can be flexible.

Please note that whilst it may be possible for occasional home working after the probationary period, this is an office based role and regular remote working will not be possible
