Studio Manager / Senior Producer (Photograpy/ Art & Design Studio)

Full Time - 5 day week


The position is full time, starting in January 2023.


This position is primarily logístical but does offer the opportunity for the right person to communicate and connect with a broad creative community, as well as become involved in production of art pieces, photographic shoots, exhibitions, and books.


The Role:

The role of Studio Manager / Senior Producer is a pivotal one within the team.

As
Studio Manager / Senior Producer you will be required to work with the Director and senior members of the team on the general management of the studio and will be in charge of various activities involved in running the studio.

Tasks of a studio managerrange from general administration, accounting, developing client relationships, organizing, and supervising fairs and exhibitions.


Responsibilities:


  • Communicate daily with artist about progress of current projects and immediate needs
  • Communicate daily with artist's representative agency and gallery about upcoming projects, production, budgeting, and schedule
  • Communicate frequently with galleries and art dealers to develop exhibitions and art sales
  • Control a timeline with specific intermediate and final targets for each person in each project
  • Act as a single point of contact for production involving multiple people working independently on subprojects in different locations
  • Source specialist technicians, fabricators, and assistants to meet project targets
  • Make or assist in logístical bookings: cars, flights, and accommodation
  • Maintain a thorough calendar with all job deadlines
  • Facilitate specific technical orders between artist and technicians
  • Liaising with museum, gallery and art handler personnel to install and breakdown shows
  • Supervise all postproduction
  • Deliver final work to client in physical or digital form
  • Oversee and archive press coverage

Accounting:


  • Strategise, negotiate and manage longterm project budgets
  • Communicate weekly with accountants for review
  • Submit and pay invoices promptly and independently, and collate all expenses
  • Verify studio invoices are paid in given terms
  • All accounting done in Xero

Studio Maintenance:


  • Daily action plan for artist, studio manager, and interns
  • Weekly meetings with artist to discuss medium and longterm strategy
  • Supervise assistants and interns working in the studio
  • Update archive of work including digital and physical archive, artist and agency website, and social networks
  • Maintain ongoing databases of art personnel and fabricators, locations, studios, assistants, framers, printers, designers, etc.

Required Skills & Qualifications:


  • 3+ years of logístical/administrative experience in the
    Art/Production/Photography/Fashion industries:
  • Advanced-level of logístical and managerial skills with an eye for detail
  • Fast learning and confidence of independent work and decisionmaking
  • Longterm project management vision and task breakdown
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and oversee numerous coinciding projects

Adobe Creative Suite:
Photoshop, Lightroom; InDesign
at medium level (essential)

  • Microsoft Office: Excel (essential), Word
  • Researching, collating and preparing briefings for specific projects in Keynote and InDesign
  • Xero Accounting Software
  • Gmail, Google Docs and Google Calendar
