Permanent Position

Mornings (Monday - Thursday - 5:45am - 13:30pm & Friday 5:45am - 12:15pm)

Afternoons (Monday - Thursday 12:15pm - 21:00pm & Friday 11:45am - 18:15pm)

Precision Manufacturing Business

Birmingham

My client are a precision manufacturing business based North Birmingham specialising in machining and assembly of high value low volume components. The CMM Programmer will create and programme the CMM machine (using MCOSMOS), to inspectcomponents, and participate in continuous improvement, structured root cause analysis, defined control methods, and product validation within the Quality department.

CMM Programmer

  • Inspect manufactured and incoming product geometry with a variety of incoming materials and products, using a variety of measuring instruments.
  • Using MCOSMOS Software, operate and create programs to run the CMM machines, to inspect first piece, inprocess, final, and first article inspections on components and assemblies. (Programs to be generated from CAD model and engineering drawing with offlineprogramming).
  • Review incoming product inspection reports and where applicable devise inspection criteria.
  • Ensure incoming product meets contracted dimensional requirements.
  • Ownership of the CMM area to include (but not limited to) machine calibration, associated processes and procedures, software and hardware updates, best practice implementation, maintenance, fixturing.
  • Supporting a strategic plan for CMM and metrology improvement and upgrades.
  • Assist in the training of apprentice CMM Operator / Programmers.
  • Routine inspection of defective and machined components using 1st principle measurement.
  • Support process capability studies and MSA's on key equipment in the facility.
  • Raising and managing nonconformances in line with SOPs and the QRDR process. Giving advice on problem resolution.
  • Record keeping of inspection and of defective and machined components.
  • Review with a high level of attention to detail the measurement and assessment of component features, and associated supporting documentation
  • Analysing specifications and technical drawings ensuring tolerances are adhered to GD&T
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative to achieve required deadlines.
  • Support and adhere to weekly production schedule, to ensure that product flows through measurement process.
  • Demonstrate outstanding organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Working to very tight and constantly changing deadlines with absolute discretion.
  • Promote quality achievement and performance throughout the organisation.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to, deviations from process should be highlighted and if necessary, the SOP reviewed to ensure the process is correct and up to date.

Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience and knowledge of programming and operating CMM and understanding CMM capability/limitation and measurement uncertainty
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and work to tolerances

Desirable Qualifications / Experience / Skills:

  • Knowledge of metrology principles and GD&T
