Description

Experienced Senior Quality Control Inspector required by long standing and very successful manufacturing company based in Southend on sea, Essex.

As a
Senior Quality Control Inspector you will be responsible for all aspects of parts quality before releasing to production. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a great team of people in a friendly environment.

Joining as a Senior team member with Assistant QC Inspectors.

You will report directly to the Quality Control Coordinator, also from time to time the Parts, Supplier, and Design Coordinators.

This is a pro-active role working with many team-mates demandingan eye for detail and exceptional communication skills.


Job description

You will be responsible for the inspection of incoming parts using all necessary inspection equipment (provided) against technical drawings and working closely with all departments and relevant coordinators.


The inspection of parts will include dimensional and cosmetic checks, referring to golden samples held in department, it is essential that the correct quality control documents are filled in correctly, recorded and saved on file for traceability of inspectionprocesses and part history.

Becoming their 'expert' for their Hexagon CMM. Programming the CMM with new/modified parts. Checking parts and analysing/interpreting results.

Training of other team members.

Work closely with design team to understand key parts and their critical dimensions.
- ery important to understand the company's strategy of carrying out QC, it is the aim to use everything they can, failing inspection will always have consequences for the company and supplier. Having an appreciation and understanding of all the 'grey' areasthat they encounter not just the 'black and white' pass/fail.

Working with the Supplier Coordinator to understand different suppliers and their position within their overall Strategy. It is critical that a rejection situation does not affect the overall relationship issue with a critical supplier.


Working with Design, production and suppliers to understand the manufacturing processes and how the parts are designed to be used.


You will also be required to visit their key suppliers occasionally to discuss quality issues, this does involve some long journeys across the country but is a crucial part of the job.

It is also a great opportunity to see and understand the different manufacturingprocesses.

Communicating with the suppliers is paramount to ensure the fault does not continue.

Ensuring all reject parts are correctly documented in a timely manner. Contribute towards and maintain first off, parts library and drawings for all parts in QC


Ensuring correct stock movements of parts on 'Factory Master '(FM) MRP system, through QC department and into Warehouse and/or departments, training will be given.

Inspected parts to be clearly labelled before leaving the QC department.


Key Skills
Previous experience in similar manufacturing role is essential.

  • Must be proficient in operating a CMM.
  • Responsible for the calibration of all mechanical measuring equipment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications. High level of experience with the use of standard inspection equipment i.e. Vernier Callipers, micrometer, optical measuring equipment these will be provided.
  • Excellent communication and decision making with teammates across many different disciplines.
  • Comfortable and proficient with communicating facetoface, on the telephone and using electronic methods.
  • An understanding of various manufacturing processes to aid in inspection and feedback to supplier.
  • Good housekeeping and organisation skills are essential
  • Team Player who can work efficiently with mínimal supervision.
  • Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail
  • Able to be confident to make decisions regarding pass & fail of parts.
Basic salary £26,000 - £30,000 plus an annual bonus, free lunch provided daily.

Hours 8am-4.45pm Monday to Friday
