Casualty Claims Adjuster

London

Role Summary
Investigating and effectively handling a wide range of Casualty claims under technical direction. Working within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring technical complexity and coordination.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of UK and International Casualty claims with supervision, ranging in complexity and written on both the Syndicate and Company platforms.
  • Interpreting more complex or unusual policy coverages, escalating issues as needed.
  • Coordinating and performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, brokers, business partners and experts.
  • Partnering with solicitors, customers, brokers, experts and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost effective resolution of more complex claims.
  • Proactively managing claims, setting early and accurate reserves in line with reserving philosophy, and authorising payments within scope of authority.
  • Ensuring large and significant claims are identified at an early stage and escalated as needed.
  • Providing guidance, assistance and mentoring to less experienced claims colleagues.
  • Identifying claims with third party recovery / fraud potential and coordinating with relevant stakeholder functions.

Key Requirements

  • Proven claims handling experience is needed, with a focus on Casualty classes.
  • Experience in Employers' Liability, General Liability and Products Liability is required, although development support will be provided as needed. Experience in Life Science and Clinical Trials is preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
