Organisation Information

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O'Rourke, two of Europe's most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Purpose Of The Role

To support the Health & Safety Manager to ensure the project teams follow health & safety regulations, legislation and policies, and minimise occupational risk on site. BYLOR requires all HS&E professionals to focus on being challenging and curious, actively involved in hosting, coaching, mentoring and engagement. We aim to do things differently.

Key Responsibilities And Specific Accountabilities

Provide robust HS&E advice to allocated project/establishment and coach in HS&E matters.
Deputise for the HSE Manager when required.
Mentor HSE Advisers.
Transfer between BYLOR work areas if required.
Ensure the HPC Project Values are understood and complied with.
Identify hazards or deficiencies, rate and rank risk, and communicate required actions.
Conduct inspections and audits of projects, establishments and offices, ensuring compliance with the compliance monitoring programme.
Carry out investigations and produce thorough reports addressing underlying issues.
Monitor compliance and implement corrective action where required.

Essential Skills & Knowledge

Coach the project team in key HSE project risks.
Understand the benefits of using behavioural tools as part of a continuous improvement cycle.
Have relevant experience in the Construction Industry.
Have a good understanding of relevant HS&E legislation and interpret its requirements.
Have at least 3-4 years' relevant experience with industry recognised qualifications.
Have sufficient environmental knowledge to support the BYLOR environmental agenda.

Education & Qualifications

IOSH Managing Safely in Construction or SMSTS.
NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate as a minimum.
Member of Professional Body eg. IOSH at Tech IOSH minimum.

Additional Information

All positions with BYLOR are employed directly with either Laing O'Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes, annual holiday allowance and company car/ or car allowance.

Positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset, offering beautiful English countryside, an attractive coastline, interesting towns and villages, easy access to the M5, and proximity to the cities of Bristol and Exeter.
