Job summary:


Government Grant funding plays an important role domestically, in areas such as education, research, civil society and innovation, as well as abroad through international aid projects.

Grant spending accounts for around 16% of all UK Government expenditure (2021/22).

Part of the Government Grants and Commercial Directorate, the Government Grants Management Function (GGMF) works to ensure that every pound of Government Grants annual spend (£172bn in 2021/22) makes a difference to the economy and to communities.

The role will be to provide programme management office support to two major efficiency programmes being run by GGMF. GGMF is delivering the Find a Grant Programme, which seeks to transform Government Grant-making.


Job description:


  • They will also support the initial phases of the SGMS Programme, as part of a central PMO.
  • Although they may be called to cover all PMO functions at times, their main focus will be on running governance and reporting processes for both efficiency programmes.
  • Working with the PMO Support, this will include ensuring the smooth administration and recording of all governance bodies and the maintenance of followup action logs. Reporting will be at a number of levels and to multiple stakeholders and the postholder will be expected to ensure all requirements are fulfilled efficiently and accurately.

Person specification:


Essential

  • A proven record of supporting change within a complex programme environment.
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team to deliver at pace and to a high quality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable

  • Experience of supporting senior governance boards.
  • Understanding of the wider government landscape.
  • Experience of working in a Private Office or other policy environment.
