We are a well-established law firm who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Family Lawyer with over 5 years' PQE, to join and to assist with leading our busy, highly-experienced family law team.

Managing Director


Main Purpose of Role
To assist and support lawyers within the department to enable an efficient, quality client service to be given.

To carry out training, both on the job and external, in order to be a knowledgeable lawyer offering excellent client service.

To undertake fee earning work and provide a profitable contribution to the work of the department. To give clients excellent client service in a timely fashion. Working with the management team to ensure the smooth running of the department. Helping to ensure commercial success of the department.


Key Duties and responsibilities

  • To undertake supervision of lawyers within the department and helping with the development of junior lawyers within the department.
  • To assist with the management of all client work in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards contained in the company's office manual.
  • To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs.
  • At all times to exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • To ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the company's and clients' documentation and information, in line with the data protection rules.
  • To achieve or assist in achieving agreed levels of billing and time recording, both personal and departmental.
  • To be commercially aware and to bill in excess of their target and look encourage others in the team to do the same.
  • To oversee the debt recovery process to reduce the department's outstanding debts.
  • To encourage all lawyers within the department to keep their billing uptodate and make sure that all bills are paid in a timely fashion and where they are not, to make sure that no further action is taken on those matters until payment has been made.
  • To comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Rules on the Professional Conduct of Solicitors.
  • To maintain clear and precise communications with clients and colleagues.
  • To ensure good working relationships with external organisations.
  • To take responsibility for and attend to selfdevelopment.
  • In conjunction with the Company, to comply with the relevant training requirements in line with the Company's training policy and to assist with inhouse training as may be required.
  • To be active in promoting the services of the company and its image and ethos.
  • Other duties required within the spirit and scope of the post.

Essential Skills and Experience
Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors or Legal Executives with a minimum of 5 years' PQE who:

  • Management and leadership skills
  • Have excellent organisational skills and able to effectively prioritise and organise workload/tasks.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Be able to produce work to a high standard, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have a concern for quality of service.
  • Computer keyboard skills.
