If this sounds like you, and you're seeking a rewarding job role, we are currently recruiting for a number of Teaching Assistants (Level 2) to join our Education staff team.


Working independently and as part of a team, you will support children and young people to access highly personalised programmes of study, with the aim of helping them to achieve their individual aspirations.

You will need to be enthusiastic, able to use your own initiative, have a drive and resilience for what is often a demanding role; and you must be people-centred with good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with both staff and pupils.


Job description:

  • To work towards the achievement of Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools within first year of employment (if qualification has not already been achieved).
  • Build positive and collaborative relationships with pupils and colleagues.
  • Help to deliver personcentred support for all pupils, including 1:1, paired and small group lessons.
  • Assist with supervision of pupils at all times, both on and off site, ensuring safety measures are in line with health and safety and risk assessment policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), Behaviour plans and targets for individual programmes.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times and protect them from risk of harm.
  • Comply with the Society's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy and report any concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of information relating to pupils, in accordance with NEAS policies.
  • Promote independence and selfesteem, providing feedback to pupils in relation to achievement and progress (as directed by the teacher).
  • Contribute to monitoring the health and wellbeing of pupils according to the school's policy on Positive and Proactive Support.
  • Implement a range of personalised strategies to support children and young people with their communication and sensory needs.
  • Prepare learning environments for lessons and help to tidy up afterwards.
  • Provide input into the review and development of lesson plans and pupil progress.
  • Provide clerical/admin support as required and keep all monitoring charts and records up to date.
  • Gather and report information from parents, carers, residential and other professionals, prioritising the needs of the pupil at all times.
  • Contribute to the inclusiveness of the school, working in an antidiscriminatory manner at all times.
  • Provide support for pupils in relation to their personal care needs as required.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required, including appraisals and supervisions.
  • Complete all mandatory training in the timescale required, including elearning.
  • Provide temporary cover, so far as is practicable, for team members and other teams in their absence.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post.
