The Department of Health Sciences is a large, multi-disciplinary and multi-professional department with over 350 academics, researchers and support staff engaged in delivering research & teaching.

In 22/23 the department had annual research project income of £14.6 million raised almost entirely from external competitive grant funding from a wide range of funders.


Role:


The Department of Health Sciences wishes to appoint a Research Support Officer to provide pre and post award research support to the Mental Health and Addictions Research Group (MHARG).


In this role, you will work closely with the Research Group Lead for MHARG, MHARG Principal Investigators (PIs), the Research Manager, Research Co-ordinator, and Research Group Administrators throughout the department.


It is an exciting opportunity for someone to learn all aspects of front-line research support from the initial inception of the project to the very end and closure of a grant.

You will be part of the Health Sciences and Hull York Medical School (HYMS) Research Finance Office who will provide you with full support and training in all aspects of pre and post award support.

This role is fixed term for two and half years with the possibility of a contract extension.


Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:


  • Level 3 qualification. (Qualifications at this level include A levels. Please view the full list), equivalent nonUK qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Finance or business qualification such as AAT is desirable.
  • Excellent numeracy skills, competent working with budgets, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience of administrative procedures and processes used in a busy office within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven financial skills and experience of working with financial information, managing money and budgets.
  • Able to effectively organise and prioritise work and follow procedures to produce work to a high standard to required deadlines, collaborating with others as required.
  • Proactive approach to solving problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats, including the use of a variety of digital tools.
