L1 & L2 Examiner


Subject to the instructions of the Head of Qualifications, and with maximum efficiency in terms of educational best practice, quality and quantity of output and customer service, to support the assessment and development of WSET Level 1 & 2 qualifications.

Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the authoring and setting of questions for all qualifications at Levels 1 & 2, ensuring they are correctly mapped to learning outcomes and correspond to agreed targets
  • Maintain and develop the Level 1 & 2 question banks to ensure secure storage, retrieval and administration of items
  • Produce examination papers at Levels 1 & 2 in accordance with qualification Specifications and compliance targets
  • Oversee the translation and publication of exam papers and related assessment materials into nonEnglish languages
  • Contribute to the expansion of the assessment portfolio in line with company aspirations, and to the development of assessment content in line with industry developments and Specification changes
  • Play a leading role in the advancement of WSET's digital assessment offer
  • Perform ongoing statistical validation of assessment material
  • Produce management information reports as required by the Head of Qualifications and Examination Panels
  • Liaise with Approved Programme Providers to resolve qualification and assessment issues
  • Contribute to the successful operation of the Academic division overall, for example through membership of internal panels and committees, participation in the presentation of scholarships, attending trade fairs and other PR opportunities
  • Contribute to the division's awareness of its market and the needs of its customer base by actively seeking feedback from any interested parties and ensuring views are recorded and fed into the relevant planning and review cycles

  • Contributing to the Trust by undertaking other various tasks as required

Skills and Competencies

Essential Criteria

  • Expertise in wines
  • WSET Level 4 Diploma, or equivalent, required
  • High levels of personal and professional integrity to work with confidential information
  • Sound planning skills with the ability to work independently, anticipate issues, prioritise tasks effectively, and manage varied workloads to tight deadlines
  • Commitment to the highest standards and meticulous attention to detail
  • A high level of numeracy and the capability to interpret and report on complex datasets
  • A logical and analytical approach with an enthusiasm for problemsolving and processimprovement

Desirable Criteria

  • Expertise in spirits and/or sake, preferably with WSET certification
  • Experience with using endtoend assessment software such as Surpass
  • Fluency in foreign languages
  • A track record of working with highquality qualifications and assessments
  • Experience of working effectively in a zeroerror/continuous improvement environment
