Description

Core Responsibilities

1. Supporting residents with personal care tasks such as washing, bathing showering, dressing, and using the toilet. Ensuring that people's rights to dignity and privacy are respected at all times.


2. Promoting health and well-being of residents encouraging a healthy diet and regular exercise and liaising with other professionals to support medical needs.


3. To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities including incontinence and to help in the use of and care of aids and personal equipment.


4. Supporting service users to attend appointments with doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, and all other professionals.


5. Distribute daily menus, collect resident's orders, and notify the Cook.


6. To answer call bells/alarms and assistance residents with their requests.


7. To help in the promotion of mental and physical activities for residents through talking to them, taking them out in the community, lead and encourage participation in group activities.


8. Set up dining room areas ready for mealtimes, arrange trays, serve meals, feed residents who need assistance, prepare light meals and drinks on an evening, and wash up, tidy, and clear the dining room.


9. Understanding how people communicate and encouraging appropriate communication. Showing respect for an individual's age, gender, ethnic origin, religious and cultural background, encouraging choice and enabling empowerment.


10. Ensuring all documents are completed as identified within the records policy, and that these are completed to a high standard and are neat accurate and up to date.


11. To help maintain a healthy and safe environment in the home and report all maintenance to the senior care staff on duty.


12. Following local safeguarding procedures to prevent, report and record any type of abuse.


13. Supporting the team to develop person centred care plans, involving families and other professionals.


14. Completing in house, face to face training and e-learning training and any other training identified by your manager, including attending courses at different venues.


15. To work within health and safety guidelines and participate in regular manual handling training.


16. Following company policies and procedures and acting in a professional manner at all times.


17. To maintain a smart and professional personal appearance, upholding the standards of the home.
