Job summary:
Thank you for your interest in the Sustainable Procurement
Coordinator post with Historic Environment Scotland based
at Longmore House. This is an 18-month fixed term
contract and pensionable appointment.
The key purpose of this role is to provide a full procurement
service to enable Historic Environment Scotland to meet its
requirements for buying goods, services and works whilst
minimising the environmental impact of our contracted
spend.
Job description:
Historic Environment Scotland's (HES) Procurement Unit is based in Longmore House and
requires a Sustainable Procurement Coordinator to support delivery of the commitments and
actions to climate change in the Procurement Strategy and to Sustainable procurement in
the Climate Action Plan and to help support fulfilment of sustainable procurement and
climate change duties. The role will also support delivery the Waste and Resources Plan as
well as contributing towards mandatory annual Public Bodies Duties Reporting on our
Sustainability Report part of the Annual Statement and the Procurement Annual Report.
The Procurement Unit sets the policy and procedure framework based on Scottish
Government guidelines, encourages best practice, monitors local procurement and contract
management, and provides advice in this area where necessary.
The Procurement team is made up of a Head of Procurement, 2 Procurement Business
Partners, Procurement Officer, and a Procurement Assistant. The Procurement Officer will
report to a Procurement Business Partner and have freedom of action in operational matters
within defined standards and precedents.

This role will be based in Longmore House with the opportunity for hybrid working in
agreement with the line manager. There is likely to be a requirement to attend Longmore
House on a semi-regular basis.
Person specification:
You will be required to demonstrate that you meet the requirements and qualifications below
as part of the selection process.
Essential requirements:
- Good knowledge of sustainable procurement within the Public Sector
- Good working knowledge of MS Office in particular Word, Excel and Outlook
- Basic project Management skills to ensure project timetables reflect resources
- Strong interest in climate change
- Demonstrable evidence of data collation and analysis
Desirable requirements:
- Knowledge of using the Public Contracts Scotland portal
